Cole’s Taxidermy was established in 1968, by David Cole as a part time hobby. This 1200 sq. ft. studio is still at its original location in Excel, Alabama. David also worked fulltime at Alabama River Pulp Mill to support his wife Carol and their three sons Allen, Steve, and Michael.
By the time his sons were 9 or 10 they each developed an interest in the art of taxidermy. So, in 1985, David changed the name of the studio to Cole and Son’s Taxidermy. His sons were now a part of what he created.
David and Carol both stressed the importance of education to their sons. After high school each attended college. Allen, pursued a career in the United States Army and later received an associate degree in electronic engineering, and now works full time at Alabama River Pulp Mill.
Steve, received a degree in electronic engineering at South East College in Mobile, Alabama. He also just recently received a degree in Computer Aid Drafting at Jefferson Davis Community College. In Aug of 2008 Steve open H20 Graphics LLC. A water transfer printing company in Excel, Alabama.
Michael, received a degree in Computer Aid Drafting at South East College in Mobile, Alabama. And he worked for a engineering firm for 11 years in Pensacola, Florida. In April of 2004 Cole’s Taxidermy opened in Milton, Florida. And in May of 2008 Michael began to work full time in his studio.
In April of 2004 David retired and began working full time in his studio. David, Steve and Allen handle the work in Alabama while Michael handles the work from Florida. Their turn around time on most mounts is 4 to 5 months. There is no job to big or too small for Cole’s Taxidermy.
